So, this is a new beginning.
Lantern Lit Letters is a place for small stories, glimmers, strange little moments, and soft beings who seem to appear from somewhere in the Living Castle’s realm.
Or from the forest. Or from a teacup. Or from that odd in-between place where something feels like a story, but also like a dream, and also like a message you almost understand but not quite.
Which is probably exactly the point.
These are not big polished stories with everything explained.
They are more like tiny windows.
A feather floats down from nowhere.
A key appears in the moss.
A crystal button is found in a picnic blanket.
Riko drinks acorn coffee from his thermos and takes things very seriously, in his very Riko way.
And then something happens. Or almost happens. Or disappears before anyone can be completely sure what it meant.
I call these little pieces: Glimmers.
They are short fragments from the realm of the Living Castle and its beings. Some may feel cozy, some a little mysterious, some quietly funny, some maybe a bit symbolic in ways I didn’t even plan.
And that is one of the things I love about them. Because I don’t think the meaning is only in what I write. I think part of it appears when someone reads it.
One person may see a key as an invitation.
Someone else may see it as something lost.
Someone else may completely ignore the key and wonder about the feather instead.
And somehow, all of that is true.
So … this Substack is also an invitation to notice what these tiny scenes stir in you.
Not in a serious homework way, more like:
What did you see?
What did it remind you of?
What felt important?
What made you smile?
What made you go, “hmmm, that’s suspicious”?
The comments can become part of the whole thing too, like a little gathering of different meanings, feelings, and interpretations. Because apparently, when you leave a small enough door open, different people see very different worlds through it.
You will probably meet Rupert, Riko, Gobina, Erik, and others along the way.
You do not need to know everyone before entering. Honestly, I’m not sure I know everyone either. They tend to arrive when they arrive or when I at least expect it 🙂
There will likely be soup. There will almost certainly be lots of moss. There may be unexplained objects. And Riko will probably be nearby with his tiny mug, quietly knowing more than he says.
Welcome to Lantern Lit Letters.
The lantern is lit. Let’s see what glimmers.
